In addition to teaching , leading, and writing, I have worked hard in the past few years to build my skillset in coding and data analytics.
The projects below include work done in R, Python, and Tableau. In exploring the world of data, I have tried to cast a wide net and learn as much as possible about some of the foundational tools used by data analysts and data scientists.
This R project was part of a Google Analytics course I completed in summer 2021. It involves analyzing user data for a bike-sharing service with the aim of converting casual users of the service to subscribers.
I love football, so when I saw that Kaggle had a competition based on an NFL dataset, I couldn't resist. This Python project analyzes punter effectiveness over the past four seasons and presents a new tool for comparing punters.
Ever since I won my middle school geography bee, I've been hooked on using maps to understand the world around us. One of my favorite parts of data analytics is creating my own map-based vizzes to highlight important information. This project seeks to highlight differences among African nations.
My three most recent books (and the next three I have planned) are all in the Science Fiction sub-genre of alien first contact. This Tableau project helped me to better understand what was most successful in the sub-genre and to see trends across the work of others working in the same space.
